Many years ago when I was but a slip of a lad, my teacher at school decided that for the Christmas play we were going to perform the story of Aladdin and his Magic Lamp. Unfortunately, 
the school didn’t own a lamp, so we had to change it to a magic xylophone. Yours truly was cast as the eponymous hero. So when I saw the Aladdin’s Legacy slot was to be reviewed it was a nostalgic moment for me.
Based on the story of the character who originated in the book, 1001 Arabian Nights, the story has been retold many times on TV and film, perhaps most memorably in Disney’s 1992 feature starring Robin Williams as the Genie. Now you can be transported back in time and join Aladdin on his quest to unlock and protect the secrets of the Magic Lamp that helped secure his fame and fortune. Let’s take a closer look at how the Aladdin’s Legacy slot performs.
Overview: Aladdin’s Legacy
The Aladdin’s Legacy slot machine is a 5×3 reel slot featuring a total of 20 non-selectable paylines in play. Wager from as little as $0.02 per payline up to a maximum of $0.25 per spin. You can increase the number of credits you wager per spin from 20 up to 100, in increments of 20. Once you have decided how much you want to wager, then you can get the reels rolling by clicking on the Auto Spin or the magic lamp.
The setting for the slot looks very familiar to the desert oasis of Agrabah, the location for Disney’s of Aladdin. The jackpot win in the base game is 2,500 coins. There are also a number of bonus features available to unlock in the game. These include a Free Spins bonus round, plus the Into the Cave bonus and the Treasure Room bonus. Who will the Aladdin’s Legacy slot appeal to?
Aladdin’s Legacy is a very enjoyable slot to play. There are plenty of wins as you play, though the majority are small in value. This makes it definitely more of a slot for the player that enjoys lower variance slot games. The opportunities to win larger sums of money tend to come more in the bonus features than the base game. The presentation of the slot is slick. I think anybody with an interest in the story of Aladdin, or myths and legends in general, will enjoy it. Gameplay: Aladdin’s Legacy
Once you’ve decided how much to wager on the Aladdin’s Legacy slot you’re ready to spin the reels. The Lamp is the start button, which is a very nice touch. Clicking on the lamp gets 
the reels spinning. You can also se the Auto Spin feature if you want to play through a stated number of spins without clicking each time.
On the reels are a number of different symbols. The playing card symbols from Jack through to Ace are the lower value symbols, along with the Market Stall symbol. All offer payouts of up to 200 coins.
Higher value symbols include a number of items highlighting parts from the story. There is a pot filled with parchments, a desert oasis, plus two characters. The highest value symbol is Aladdin swathed in purple. The other character is the princess, who he will eventually come to marry as the story goes.
What is nice is that with many symbols you don’t need to hit three on a payline to win. Sometimes you can receive a small payout (usually around 2 coins) when you hit just two symbols on a reel. These payouts may well be small but they are frequent. Over a session they can add up into a significant amount of money.
Additional features
To help you land base game wins there is a Wild symbol—Aladdin sitting astride his magic carpet. Not only does this substitute for all of the higher and lower value symbols on the reels, but land five of the Wilds on a payline and you can trigger the base game jackpot of 2,500 coins.
The base game is most certainly a lower variance slot with wins happening very regularly. They are generally small amounts with many wins not quite covering the cost of your initial bet. However, you do hit the occasional larger base game wins. The bigger wins are more likely to come when you trigger one of the three bonus features in the slot.
The key to the bonus games in the slot is the Magic Lamp Scatter symbol. Land three or more of these on the reels and you not only win a cash sum, but you also trigger the Free Spins bonus round, which plays out on a different set of reels (one packed with valuable gems) to the base game.
Into the Cave bonus
The number of free spins you receive depends on the number of scatters landed. Three awards you 10 free spins, four gives you 15 and land five lamps and you’ll receive 20 free spins. During free spins, your winnings will accumulate. If you manage to land the Into the Cave symbol on the fifth reel during the bonus round, then you trigger the next bonus game.
The Into the Cave bonus allows you to try and open the cave door. To do this you have to unlock the door by selecting three gems, each of which will award you a cash prize. Pick the correct three and you then trigger the Treasure Room bonus. Select incorrectly and you are returned to the Free Spins bonus round to complete your games.
In the Treasure Room bonus you simply have to select the right path to lead to the 11,500-coin top prize. Pick the right path and the treasure will be yours. Select the wrong path and you’ll win a lesser cash prize.

Free Spins bonus
Land three, four or five Lamp scatter symbols on the reels in the base game to trigger 10, 15 or 20 free spins on a brand new reel set. Land the Into the Cave symbol on the fifth reel on any free spin and you trigger the Into the Cave Bonus feature.
Into the Cave bonus
In this feature you have to select from a series of gems to try and unlock the cave. Each gem selected awards a cash prize and if you can successfully unlock the door, you will trigger the Treasure Room bonus. Fail to unlock the door and you are returned to the reels complete your free spins bonus round.
Treasure Room bonus
This final bonus allows you to select a pathway from different options to try and win the 11,500 coin jackpot prize. Select the right path to win the jackpot, but select the incorrect path and you earn a smaller prize and the bonus ends and you are returned to the free spins round to conclude that bonus.
What works?
Presentation
The way that the Aladdin’s Legacy slot is presented is superb. From the beautifully animated introduction at the start of the game, to the animations on the reels when you hit a winning spin to the different bonus features, and the superb Arabian-themed music. Everything looks and sounds exactly as a slot about Aladdin should.
Regular, Small Wins
You never have to wait a long time for a win in the Aladdin’s Legacy slot and it is nice to play a game that rewards its players so often, even if the majority of the base game wins are generally small in value.
Free Spins & Bonuses
To achieve the better value wins, you need to unlock the Free Spins round and then the bonuses you can unlock from within free spins. This trio of bonuses adds a great deal to the free spins round and makes those spins a great deal more exciting.
What doesn’t?
Lack of multipliers
Quite a few slots overlook multipliers and unfortunately Aladdin’s Legacy is another. They are a simple way to afford the player a little extra value on some wins and as such, they are sorely missed when not used in a slot. Adding a 2x multiplier on Wild wins here would certainly have given the base game more added spice.
Patience needed to hit free spins & bonuses
The base game may be rewarding but it doesn’t afford huge wins to the player but sometimes it can take a great deal of patience and many spins to trigger the free spins bonus and then you need yet more patience to trigger the other two bonuses from within free spins. Good budgeting on this slot therefore is essential.
Lack of excitement in base game
Due to the fact that all the bonuses can only be accessed from free spins, it does mean that the base game can drag a little as you are always hoping to land free spins. When you do, free spins is very exciting, but when you head back to the base game, it can feel like a slot to try and unlock free spins once again.

Aladdin’s Legacy has superb visuals and sound and absolutely nails it in terms of how the game should, look, sound and play. The only mark I have against it is that the backdrop is rather boring when it could have been so much more exciting and colorful.
Originality & creativity 4/5
The Aladdin’s Legacy base game is rather repetitive after a while but it is rewarding you frequently. The game does get far more exciting when you trigger free spins and can have a shot at the bonus games that are accessible from it. The way the slot is structured like that does give it a ‘quest’ feel.
Play value 4/5
The fact that you win very frequently on the Aladdin’s Legacy slot means that this slot does offer great play value. Indeed, often you can play for 10 minutes or more and check your balance and find that you have only spent a very small sum or have even broken even.
Jackpot potential 3/5
The 2,500-coin jackpot in the base game is nothing to shout about but the Treasure Room bonus of 11,500 is certainly well worth playing for, and while it is not a massive jackpot, the fact the game is a lower variance slot means that it is particularly good value to play for.

I was hugely surprised at the quality of the Aladdin’s Legacy slot. Everything was done superbly and the game itself is fun to play and rewarding. This is one slot that you will certainly come back to time and time again.
