September AC Casino News Spotlights Harrah’s Resort NFL Pool Party, Ringo Starr Art Exhibition At Hard Rock

Jersey Shore beach season is winding down but the Atlantic City casino news cycle is still going strong. Being that September is here, NFL betting and viewing options are front and center.

However, like the like the last several months, there are some fresh restaurant updates. This includes one popular AC spot earning national recognition.

And word is Ringo Starr from The Beatles is arriving at Hard Rock Hotel Casino a few days early for a special event.

Atlantic City casinos setting NFL viewing party vibe

Now that NFL betting season has arrived, you might be thinking the nine Atlantic City casino sportsbooks are the only places to watch the games. Well, this is far from the case.

Thanks to NJ online sports betting, grabbing a seat by the betting windows or kiosks is not required for placing those point spread and parlay wagers. Sure, some of those video walls are rather impressive, but Atlantic City casinos do offer some unique viewing options:

• The Yard at Bally’s: The new indoor/outdoor beer garden located in the Bally’s Atlantic City courtyard. this is the place to enjoy $5 beer specials, beer buckets, craft cocktails and good food while watching Sunday NFL games (Monday and Thursday night action as well). And if the weather is nice, they might open the roof.
• Yes, The Gallery Bar, Book and Games is the newest sportsbook in town, but The Balcony Bar is the hidden gem. It connects via a 17-foot open-air staircase and offers what is being billed as “the ultimate VIP sportsbook experience.”
• Technically, pool season at the Jersey Shore is finished. However, when you have a state-of-the-art indoor pool like Harrah’s Resort (where it’s always 82 degrees), the party never ends. Following a successful Super Bowl party at The Pool, the property is now making its Sunday Splash Kick Off a weekly thing where guests ($20 admission) have the option of going for a swim (even during the winter). Plus, there will be live DJs, food, drinks and giveaways. There are 30 large screens to view all the action.

Of course, if watching the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants or New York Jets from a cozy AC sportsbook seat is more your thing, here is a where to watch and bet rundown.

Ringo Star charity event at Hard Rock AC benefiting Lotus Foundation

Former Beatle Ringo Starr will be taking the Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena stage Saturday, Sept. 24. However, Starr is arriving in Atlantic City early for a limited-run art exhibition and sale at Hard Rock AC. The charity event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 23.

More than 40 pieces will be featured in the exhibition. The proceeds will benefit the Lotus Foundation, which works to fund, support, participate in and promote charitable projects at advancing social welfare in diverse areas. According to the press release, the artwork is individually numbered and hand-signed by Starr. Signed copies of his art book, “Painting is my Madness Too – The ART of Ringo Starr,” will be available as well.

Anthony Faranca, president of Hard Rock Atlantic City, referred to the event as a way “to offer unique and diverse entertainment experiences for all of our guests.”

“Ringo Starr’s art exhibition will not only showcase his unique talent as an artist, but also is an opportunity to give back to those underserved communities through the Lotus Foundation which we are proud to support,” Faranca said.

The art exhibit is free to attend. The hours will be:

• Sept. 21: 2 p.m.-8 p.m.
• Sept. 22: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Sept. 23: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Resorts AC introducing Halloween-themed bar

Resorts Casino Hotel regulars at this point are aware the property is regularly changing the ambiance inside one of its popular bars. Well, with Halloween now a little more than a month away, Resorts will be rebranding Bar One (located on the casino floor) to the Pink Pumpkin. The Halloween-themed pop-up bar will include a breast cancer awareness twist. The space will be open Sept. 19-Oct. 31.

More importantly, proceeds from select “pink” drink specials will be donated to the Real Men Wear Pink Campaign.

Old Homestead temporary closing at Borgata

The popular Old Homestead Steakhouse at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is temporarily closed. Don’t worry, according to the press release, the restaurant will be reopening later this year once the remodel is complete.

In the short term, the MGM-owned property is setting up an Old Homestead pop-up location in the space previously occupied by Fornelletto (just off the casino floor). Select menu items will be available starting in early October. The hours for the temporary space will be:

• Sun., Tue.-Fri.: 5 p.m.-10 p.m.
• Sat.: 4 p.m.-11 p.m.
• Mon.: Closed

As far as specifics regarding the new Old Homestead space, Play NJ will share an update as soon as the details are announced.

Borgata guests also have the option of dining at B Prime, which opened earlier this year in the former Bobby Flay Steak spot.

The doors to Hell’s Kitchen opening next week

If there is any doubt about the excitement regarding Hell’s Kitchen opening at Caesars Atlantic City, try making a reservation using Open Table. At the time of this writing, Caesars told Play NJ opening night is penciled in for Wednesday, Sept. 21. However, it’s subject to change.

So for fun, we tried making a 6:30 p.m. reservation for two. Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6:15 p.m. was the closest match to our request. Being that this marks the East Coast debut for Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, we are not at all surprised.

Atlantic City Restaurant Week fast approaching

Atlantic City Restaurant Week is taking place Sunday, Oct. 2-Friday Oct. 7 and will include three-course prix fixe menus. Lunch is $20.22 per person while the dinner deal is priced at $40.22 per person.

Amada (Ocean), Capriccio (Resorts), Gordon Ramsay Steak (Harrah’s), Kuro (Hard Rock) and The Yard (Bally’s) are a handful of the participating AC casino restaurants. The full list is available on the Do AC website.

Reservations are strongly advised.

Atlantic City scores high honors in USA Today poll

The winners list is out. We’re talking about the USA Today’s 2022 best casinos and amenities, in and outside of Las Vegas poll, and the Atlantic City market took first in three categories:

• Capriccio at Resorts winner for best casino restaurant
• Magical Mystery Doors at Ocean winner for best casino show 
• Caesars Rewards winner for best players club

Then there is the top casino hotel list, which represents the entire country. While the Mohegan Sun from the Constitution State took top honors, Hard Rock Hotel Casino AC and Ocean Casino Resort finished second and third, respectively.

Ocean also claimed the No. 7 spot in the best casino outside of Las Vegas category.
