BetMGM Poker New PKO Series in New Jersey Dealing Over $180K In Prize Pools
Knockouts for cash will be occurring this August in New Jersey, but don’t worry, no one will be harmed. BetMGM Poker is running the Summer Progressive Knockout (PKO) Poker Fest from. Aug. 14-21 This included 25 events and over $180,000 in guaranteed prize pools.
“As we reach poker’s summer months, it becomes more important than ever to offer players what we know will be popular and, right now, progressive knockout events are more popular than ever,” BetMGM Director of Poker Luke Staudenmaier said in a news release. “This is the sixth BetMGM Poker event to feature PKOs in 2024 and the second to be built completely around the variant.”

What’s a progressive knockout (PKO)?
For anyone that is new to a PKO tournament, these generate a lot of bankroll building potential. These are special types of bounty tournaments. When a player eliminates an opponent, that player cashes in for 50% of the opponent’s bounty.
Those funds go directly into the winning player’s own account. The other half is added to the player’s own bounty. This makes bounties increase throughout the tournament, providing for some interesting dynamics later in the event.
BetMGM Summer PKO Fest highlights
The main event in the series is the Summer PKO Finale tournament taking place in New Jersey on Aug. 21. New Jersey’s Main Event comes with a power-punched $30,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Pennsylvania and Michigan will have their own separate series in August. Their combined prizes will be more than $290,000. Pennsylvania and Michigan remain a “ringed-in” market for the time being, but a new compact may change that. As of now, no time line has been listed for the merger. Guarantees and events may differ per state.
