Ocean Casino Resort debuts new sportsbook

Ocean Casino Resort will debut The Gallery Bar, Book & Games this summer, the Atlantic City casino announced Monday.

The 12,000-square-foot “sports and entertainment experience” is replacing the casino’s former sportsbook. The newly renovated space will feature sports betting, an elevated center bar, blackjack and roulette tables, three LED video walls and a mezzanine lounge.

Play NJ was first to report Ocean’s plans for a new sportsbook.

Ocean partnered with USBookmaking, a subsidiary of Elys Game Technology, for its sports betting services.

The $5 million project will complete Ocean Casino Resort’s $25 million casino floor transformation, which began in 2020.

“Ocean is dedicated to being the premier gaming destination in the Atlantic City market,” Bill Callahan, general manager of Ocean Casino Resort, said in a press release. “This new venue will enhance the guest experience by providing an unbeatable atmosphere right in the heart of the casino floor.”

The Gallery Bar, Book & Games will look much different than the previous venue.

At the center of The Gallery will be an elevated 100-foot bar with 12 built-in slot machines, 26 bar seats and 33 drink rail chairs.

A mix of blackjack and roulette tables will surround the perimeter of the bar.

Sports fans can catch all the action on 55-, 43- or 42-square-foot LED walls around the venue.

A staircase leading up to the Balcony Bar offers a VIP experience and a birds-eye view from the mezzanine level.

Necessary change for Ocean sportsbook

Ocean Casino Resort was the first Atlantic City casino with a true retail sportsbook.

The Boardwalk property formerly known as Revel Casino Hotel reopened in June 2018. When it did, the William Hill Sportsbook was located at the center of the casino floor.

Caesars Entertainment, which operates three Atlantic City casinos, bought William Hill U.S. in 2021.

This resulted in Ocean severing its deal with the bookmaker since it is now owned by a competitor.

Last fall, Ocean announced USBookmaking would provide sports wagering services beginning in March 2022.

The retail sportsbook at Ocean Casino Resort was the second-highest-grossing shop in Atlantic City’s nine casinos. In 2021, the book reported nearly $2.4 million in revenue, trailing only Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa’s BetMGM Sportsbook & Bar ($4.9 million).
