NY Jets Betting Odds From A Tortured Fan: Week 15 At Dolphins

Jets betting Week 15

As a tortured fan, looking at New York Jets betting odds often make me reconsider rooting for this team.

The Jets (3-10) are 9.5-point underdogs Sunday afternoon in South Florida against the Miami Dolphins (6-7). The moneyline Jets betting odds are +320 against a division rival in mid-December.

The Jets are coming off back-to-back losses. Miami has won five in a row.

Regardless, I’ll still find new and creative ways to convince myself being a Jets fan is noble while simultaneously depleting my NJ sports betting bankroll. That probably explains why the aforementioned roll currently sits at -$79.84.
Oof.

Even with the NFL moving games off Sunday’s schedule because of COVID-19 issues, most fans are probably avoiding this game.

Unless, of course, some of these Jets betting odds strike someone’s fancy.

I’m all about giving the people what they want. So, here are my five $5 Jets bets.

Recap of Jets betting odds not needed

The Jets have not been kind to sports bettors this season.

Gang Green’s 3-9 record against the spread is worst in the league.

Considering the team has been underdogs in nearly every game in 2021, that is extra painful to see.

The Dolphins have a winning record ATS at 7-6. Miami is 4-3 ATS when playing at home. When favored, the fish are 3-2.

I can’t talk myself into thinking the Jets are going to cover.

Head over to Pointsbet Sportsbook for the standard -110 odds on the Dolphins -9.5 points. Payout is $9.55.

Another tough day for the kid

Count this tortured Jets fan among the many who are not sold on Zach Wilson being the long-term answer at quarterback.

The second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has, predictably, struggled in his first year under center. The kid has thrown just six touchdowns to 11 picks and has a league-worst QBR of 24.1.

The problem with Wilson, however, is not the stats. No one expected magic.

The issue is lack of progress. Watching Wilson play each week it is clear he’s not getting better.

Wilson has a lot of work to do in the offseason.

As for Sunday, Wilson will be facing the 13th-ranked overall defense.

My gut tells me Wilson is going to have a tough game.

Bet365 Sportsbook posted a prop bet on Wilson to throw over 1.5 interceptions at +170 odds. The payout is $13.50.

Keep it simple, stupid

Neither of these teams is likely to light up the scoreboard on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Jets are the worst offense in the NFL. Miami is ranked 25th overall.

There’s no reason to give a long-winded explanation here. Take the Jets betting odds on the under. The total at FanDuel Sportsbook is 41 points and the standard -110 odds. Payout is $9.55.

Eddy to the rescue?

As noted, the Jets have had difficulty scoring points this season.

One of the reasons for that (besides the documented struggles of the QB) has been poor kicking. Really, really poor kicking.

The Jets cut a kicker a few weeks back. His replacement promptly missed every kick, both field goals and extra points, in the following game. He was then cut. Then, the brilliant front office in Florham Park brought back the first kicker. Only to cut him again after a bad week.

Last week, the Jets got a glimpse at veteran kicker Eddy Pineiro. He went 3-for-3 on FG attempts in a Week 14 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Since the likelihood of the Jets finding the endzone is slim, Pineiro will be called on often.

DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a prop bet that Pineiro will kick more than 1.5 field goals. The odds are +160 for a payout of $13.

Can this Miami Fish have a big day against Gang Green? Probably

Want to hear something that will blow your mind? Not only do the Jets have the worst offense in the NFL, but they also have the distinction of being the league’s worst defense.

Shocking, right?

Anyone who has spent any time watching Gang Green (my sincere condolences if you have) knows this team is bad against the run and the pass.

Unsurprisingly, running back screens are the Jets’ kryptonite. The New England Patriots wasted the Jets in two games using screens. The Buffalo Bills and Saints did as well.

Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores is a smart guy. He knows utilizing RB Myles Gaskin will go a long way against the Jets “D.”

BetMGM Sportsbook has a promotional prop bet for Gaskin to score 2 or more touchdowns on Sunday. I like that bet and the +500 odds. It has a payout of $30.
