NFC East Week 10 Bettor’s Playbook: Philadelphia Eagles Facing Mile High Task In NFL Week 10

As we get ready for NFC East Week 10 games, New Jersey sports bettors sense second-half momentum from the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

Exactly half of the NFL’s regular-season games will have been played once the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears conclude Monday Night Football.

As the second half kicks off this weekend, NJ bettors are starting to click with the Eagles and Giants. Although both teams are 3-6, they have found a form that should keep them in most games.

New York has officially hit the first-half locker room with a bye on the heels of their intense 23-16 Week 9 triumph over the Las Vegas Raiders. The G-Men have covered the spread three straight times and the moneyline twice as a three-point underdog in those three games. And the moneyline hits have returned +155 to DraftKings Sportsbook bettors.

The Eagles, who battled a good Los Angeles Chargers team to the final play before losing 27-24 on Sunday, invade the Denver Broncos. They have found a running-game identity and suddenly look like a real offense with 68 points in their last two games.

They face a 5-4 Broncos that just provided a smile for the Philadelphia-South Jersey area by pasting the Dallas Cowboys 30-16.  Denver inspired the return of the derisive “How About Them Cowboys” chants. Denver `will be both mile high and sky high this week, seeking a third straight triumph.

Rounding out the NFC East, the Cowboys, who looked awful against the Broncos in losing their first game against the spread this year, host the Atlanta Falcons as definitive chalk.

Then there is the Washington Football Team, now dead last in the NFC East at 2-6, come off a bye. Its countdown towards 2-7 begins as its host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dallas:

• 6-2  on the moneyline
• 7-1  versus spread

Besides unveiling a balanced attack and outrushing Los Angeles 176-89 on Sunday, the Eagles suddenly look solid running the ball with Jordan Howard and Boston Scott. Look for them to try more of the same against Denver.

At one point the Eagles ran the ball on 22 of 24 plays. They chewed up chunks of time on long drives and are reducing their penalties. They look right.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a low passing output, 162 yards. The pass-run balance was good for the team, but bettors looking for individual props on him will have a tough decision to make going forward.

Hurts’ over-under passing yardage was 230.5 on Sunday and his touchdown passing total was 1.5. Both bets were -115 on either side. The under bettorrs won both of them.

For the second straight week, Philadelphia won the race to 10 points. That was a payout of +105 at DraftKings.

They obtained more than two touchdowns. That was -120.

They combined with the Chargers to pay + 110 on combined touchdowns for the game at +5.5.

Intangibles that may be considered in over-under totals:

In three games against the AFC West, the Eagles have one, count-it, one sack.

Coincidentally, all three games, versus the Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders, and the Chargers, have hit the over.  So have five of their last seven games.

Eagles still seeking first win versus AFC West

The Broncos toyed with the Cowboys as a 9.5-point dog. They looked like nine-point favorites.

Keep an eye out for Javonte Williams, who had 111 yards, and Melvin Gordon, who had 80, in this week’s matchup.

Denver targeted fleet receiver Jerry Jeudy eight times and Tim Patrick five times against Dallas. Patrick scored.

Teddy Bridgewater is not an exceptional quarterback but has managed the game well for Denver. The Eagles really could fluster him if they can apply pressure, as Bridgewater doesn’t have the same mobility as in years past.

Every team in the AFC West has five wins. The Broncos, 5-4, are in last. But just half a game out of first.

Bye week interrupts Giants’ momentum

Big Blue has played its best football of the season in the last three weeks, but the team is off this week before visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football (Nov. 22).

The Giants have unfurled three consecutive strong efforts. Two resulted in victories, including Sunday’s gratifying triumph over the Raiders.

What they’ll take into the break:

• Quarterback Daniel Jones picked up key first downs, including a spinning third-down rush, when they protected a small fourth-quarter lead.
• The defense not only contained Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr, but it delivered a go-ahead Pick 6.
• Xavier McKinney had two interceptions, including a touchdown that gave the Giants a third-quarter lead.
• Logan Ryan then made a big touchdown-saving tackle when the Giants were ahead 20-16 in the fourth quarter. It led to a chip-shot field goal, which the Raiders missed.

Go figure. It’s the Giants making their own breaks.

The Cowboys looked out of sync against the Broncos.  It was the first time all season they did not cover the spread. And they weren’t even close.

Eagles fans loved it. So did the sportsbooks, which had a -9.5-chalk bite the dust. Goodbye moneyline and spread. Farewell to the bevy of parlays linked with this game. And goodbye to suicide pool survivors (Just to ensure a big day for the books, the Jacksonville Jaguars knocked off the Buffalo Bills as a 14.5-point dog.)

The Washington Football Team, now dead last in the NFC East, returns from a bye.

Its two biggest obstacles: derailing inside the Red Zone and facing an angry Tom Brady, whose team had the bye week to stew over last week’s loss to the Saints.
