Here Come The Philadelphia Eagles: Setting The NFC East Betting Card Heading Into NFL Week 1

Written By Dave Bontempo on September 8, 2021
NFC East 2021 Week 1

The NFC East continues enticing New Jersey online sports bettors on the eve of NFL Week 1.

That’s not just because the Philadelphia Eagles begin anew Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. The Birds, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Football Team help create a unique financial audible.

Sportsbooks are calling plays, offering late-breaking inducements to time the gambling market, and, for the most part, requiring action before Thursday’s season-opening kickoff between the Cowboys and Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A little NFL betting hustle will pay off.

Week 1 promos originated a few days before the action, seeking to either attract new users or give away some early money bettors will invariably use toward other wagers.

Odds boosts, which tend to offer something compelling, can unfold late.

Or, in the case of a Caesars Sportsbook super boost, irresistible.

Caesars Sportsbook rolls out a late deep bomb

This gem was discovered over the weekend and nearly lost in the college football shuffle. But we found it.

It’s a $50 maximum bet at +100 if Tampa Bay merely scores in the Thursday opener. Considering the Bucs average in the low 30’s throughout the playoffs and Super Bowl, that’s $50 in your pocket, thank you very much.

It now appears at the top off the NFL menu.

Keep eyes open, right up until kickoff, as books have become extraordinarily creative.

Picking “Wynn-ers”

WynnBET promotes an offer it introduced a couple of weeks back for the Dallas-Tampa Bay game.  Bet $1, win $100 free bet if either team scores a TD.

Here’s how to claim the offer in the promotions section:

  • Tap the deposit now button
  • Make an initial deposit of $20 or more
  • Place a bet of $1 or more on the Cowboys-Bucs moneyline
  • Win a $100 free bet if either team scores a touchdown

The bet must be used within seven days of being credited to one’s account and is a single-play wager.

So, the key to cashing in is hitting the next bet.

WynnBET users still have time to cash in on triple the spread for this week’s Thursday Night Football opener. Cowboys +22.5. The maximum bet is $20. A collection waiting to happen.

And Philadelphia Eagles bettors who don’t like the Birds at +3 have the opportunity to go with the triple the spread option, moving the line to  Eagles +10.5 for a $20 max bet.

NFC East is a fun betting puzzle

After the promo thrill ride, New Jersey gamblers can tackle an entertaining Week 1 challenge.

DraftKings Sportsbook asks bettors how many wins the NFC East teams will capture in Week 1. Is this the NFC East, NFC Least, or a betting feast? The over-under is 1.5 wins and here are the numbers:

  • The over 1.5. -120
  • The under is -110

This is the lineup (lines as of Wednesday afternoon):

  • Dallas +8.5 at Tampa Bay Thursday night
  • Eagles +3 at Atlanta
  • Giants +3 versus the Denver Broncos
  • Washington + 1 versus Los Angeles Chargers

This bet tests the theory that the NFC East is one of the least competitive in the NFL.

For bettors taking the under, the assumption is that Dallas loses to the defending Super Bowl champions and that you can hit two of the remaining three games.

For bettors of the over, the Giants and Washington alone could provide the victory, as they host two teams that did not make the playoffs last season.  The Eagles being able to provide a surprise against another non-playoff team would also help bring this bet home.

DraftKings division drama

For gamblers who don’t like the all-or-nothing approach to picking a division winner, here’s an interesting assortment.

Take any NFC East team and predict a finishing position.

Here are the Eagless odds:

  • First place is +500
  • Second is +350
  • Third is +225
  • Fourth is +130

Talk about an ideal hedge. If gamblers believe the Eagles will have an awful season, reminiscent of the 4-11-1-mark last year, plunk the money down and absorb any regular-season losses gracefully.

It is believed that these totals will adjust if they are offered after the first week. So now is the best time.

The Giants will return +400 for first place, +275 for second, and +225 for either third or fourth.

Washington is +200 to win, +225 for second, +275 for third, and +350 for fourth.

Dallas is +150 on the win line, +200 for second, +300 for third, and +450 for the cellar. How many Eagles fans will make a Cowboys to finish fourth bet out of spite? Some for sure.

Caesars and NFC East win totals

Starting with the Eagles, over 6.5 wins is -140 while under is +120

A reachable number considering a softer schedule than most. This includes matchups against the Jets, Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions, and Las Vegas Raiders. But -140 is significant juice.

New York Giants over 7  wins is -130 while under 7 is +110

This is essentially adding one more win for the one more game they have on the schedule. The G-men were 6-10 last year. Juice on the over is a little high, but probably acceptable to most bettors. Washington over 8.5 wins is -120 while the under comes in at +100.

Fair odds on either side, this is the team that flies under the Dallas radar. The NFC East defending champions won seven games and made the playoffs last year. The defense was terrific, including sizzling rookie Chase Young. Ryan Fitzpatrick is an upgrade at quarterback.

Dallas Cowboys over 9 wins is -130 and under nine is  +110

They have the best offensive skill players in the division. The Cowboys focused their draft efforts on addressing one of the worst defenses in all of football. Will that reward come now or down the road?

Need a healthy Dak Prescott to be in the division conversation.

Looking at 2021 regular season props

Some season-long betting props to raise eyebrows at BetMGM.

Eagles to win all six division games is +6600

Dallas to have any regular-season game end in a tie comes in at +1400. (Hey, the Eagles had one last year with the Cincinnati Bengals).

Dallas to sweep all six division games is at  +1200.

New York Giants to be eliminated in the Wild Card playoff round is +1400.

Washington to win all six division games is  +300.
