Training Camp Is Almost Over, So When Will Philadelphia Eagles Win First Game?

The NFL betting crowd is getting antsy. And here, on cue, comes a Philadelphia Eagles’ side-bet smorgasbord delivered by major NJ sportsbooks.
New Jersey online bettors have a fresh wagering lineup of Eagles’ season-long props at BetMGM and some slick new considerations from DraftKings and Caesars.
The package will help them bide time through the remainder of the preseason and steadily approaching Sept. 12 season-opener at the Atlanta Falcons.
The props contain an element of fun, humor, and potential profitability. They satisfy the side-bet craving gamblers want. Compare it to a blackjack player doubling down on 11, and hoping the dealer turns over the queen of diamonds. Another comparison is the sports-betting in-game wager.
BetMGM has an impressive lineup regarding the Eagles odds.
Eagles odds for what week first win will come
Eagles fans and bettors hope this list doesn’t extend beyond the early part of the season. But here are the BetMGM odds for when the Eagles will win their first game, spread over the entire first 10 weeks of the season.
The payouts tell a story.
Date | Opponent | Time (ET) | Week of first win odds |
---|---|---|---|
Sunday, Sep. 12 | at Atlanta Falcons | 1 p.m. | +155 |
Sunday, Sep. 19 | vs. San Francisco 49ers | 1 p.m. | +270 |
Monday, Sep. 27 | at Dallas Cowboys | 8:15 p.m. | +500 |
Sunday, Oct. 3 | vs. Kansas City Chiefs | 1 p.m. | +900 |
Sunday, Oct. 10 | at Carolina Panthers | 1 p.m. | +600 |
Thursday, Oct. 14 | vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 8:20 p.m. | +1600 |
Sunday, Oct. 24 | at Las Vegas Raiders | 4:05 p.m. | +1400 |
Sunday, Oct. 31 | at Detroit Lions | 1 p.m. | +1200 |
Sunday, Nov. 7 | vs. Los Angeles Chargers | 4:05 p.m. | +2500 |
Sunday, Nov. 14 | at Denver Broncos | 4:25 p.m. | +5000 |
What makes this interesting: the Falcons game is close, on paper. The Birds are +3.5 across the major sportsbooks.
But if a gambler takes Week 5, at +600, this is a realistic scenario should the Eagles drop the opener.
They would likely be underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers at home and the Dallas Cowboys on the road. They would not be expected to beat Kansas City Chiefs.
But the Carolina Panthers? That’s another mediocre team from last year. That’s Sam Darnold and Co. It’s possible.
Hit the sweet spot on this and the return is excellent.
History: This bet has paid off
That’s one of the beauties of this wager. It gets patrons thinking now and foresight did pay off last year in New Jersey with this exact bet on the New York Giants at BetMGM.
The book had them at +1000 to obtain their first victory in Week 6.
It was a gutsy call to make before the season, but some Garden State gamblers nailed it.
There was a close call in Week 2, a 17-13 loss to the Chicago Bears when the G-Men fired into the Bears’ end zone on the final play.
When Week 6 arrived, the bet was still alive.
To cash it, the bettors had to sweat out the Giants’ one-point win over the Washington Football Team, surviving a two-point conversion attempt in the final seconds.
How’s that for pressure? Make a bet in August, and it comes down to one play. In October.
Conversely, when will the Eagles lose their first game?
This is interesting, rewarding an unlikely early win streak with a big payout.
Here are the stakes for the first loss
- -225 for Week 1
- +260 for Week 2
- +700 for Week 3
- +2000 for Week 4
Should the Eagles get past Atlanta, San Francisco, and Dallas, they would pay handsomely to then lose to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sounds crazy right? But none of their first three opponents had a winning record last year. They were a combined 16-32. One may not expect the Eagles to win all three, but it’s far better than having the Tampa Bay Bucs or Green Bay Packers in that mix.
At the very least, this is a fun side bet.
A gambler taking either side of this prop is interested in one thing: a streak. The worst thing that player can see is 1-1.
How many wins will the Eagles attain?
This has opportunity written over it.
The books come pretty close to predicting the exact winning totals of many teams by posting their over-under win total.
Throughout most sportsbooks, the Eagles are in the six- and seven-win projection range.
That seems to be the general feeling.
But what if the bettor nails the total perfectly?
Six wins would pay +550 and seven delivers +600 at BetMGM. That’s an excellent payout for honing down a little more specifically than the books did at the start of the season.
For laughs and a sense of excitement, let’s view the betting odds list.
Any sadistic takers on the Eagles to go winless? That’s +8000.
Is anyone giddy enough to bet they go 17-0? That’s +100000 or 1,000-1.
Here are some of the in-betweens regarding the Eagles win total:
The Eagles to win:
- 1 game: +4000
- 4 games +700
- 8 games +700
- 9 games +700
- 10 games +900
- 11 games +1200
And progressively working up to +100000 (1000-1) with each win after that.
Undecided?
It’s not a bad idea to take two consecutive numbers, like 6 and 7. This doubles the chance of collecting at a profit in the area of +300.
DraftKings Sportsbook NFC East, Least or Beast?
DraftKings Sportsbook just unveiled a thought-provoking Week 1 prop, for the entire NFC East.
What will the win total of the four division teams be in Week 1?
Over 1.5 is -145
Under 1.5 is +110
What’s the schedule?
- The Dallas Cowboys visit the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Thursday Night Football season opener on Sept. 9)
- The Giants host the Denver Broncos
- Washington hosts the Los Angeles Chargers
- Eagles visit the Falcons
If the Bucs win, as expected, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington would have to go 2-1 to beat the “under” bettor.
One can consider the “over” on this but, but it’s a lot of juice.
This is a great action bet by involving the entire division, four games woven into one bet.
Hail Caesars, how low can scoring go?
In the its-not-as-funny-as-it-looks department.
The team to score the fewest points in the NFL. And at Caesars Sportsbook, the Eagles are the six finalists in this prop. And the Giants aren’t far behind.
Here is the current list:
- Houston Texans +450
- New York Jets +650
- Detroit Lions +700
- Jacksonville Jaguars +1200
- Chicago Bears +1500
- Philadelphia Eagles +1500
- New York Giants +1800
From this group, the Eagles would have finished third last year behind the Jets and Jags. Otherwise, they scored fewer points than the others.
