Bobby Flay Steak Closing At AC’s Borgata Casino Following Summer 2021 Season

Update: Borgata announced this week that B0bby Flay Steak will remain open for the summer season. Here is the updated statement regarding the pending closing: 

For the second time in less than a year, a celebrity chef-branded restaurant is leaving Atlantic City’s top casino.

Bobby Flay Steak at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa will close June 30, the casino announced Monday.

“Borgata and Flay’s hospitality group, Bold Food, made the mutual decision to close the restaurant as part of the companies’ evolving business strategies,” according to a news release.

The following day, a temporary restaurant owned and operated by Borgata and MGM Resorts International will open in the vacated space.
Additional details on a permanent future concept will be available in the coming months.

Borgata set the celebrity-chef trend in Atlantic City

Bobby Flay Steak opened at Borgata in 2006. It was part of a $200 million investment designed to introduce Las Vegas-style dining experiences to Atlantic City casinos. Celebrity chefs such as Flay, Wolfgang Puck, and Michael Mina opened fine-dining restaurants at Borgata.
Mina’s restaurant, Sea Blue, closed in 2013.

Wolfgang Puck’s American Grille never reopened after indoor dining in New Jersey was shut down last year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Michael Symon’s Angeline and Izakaya by Michael Schulson will be the remaining high-profile chef restaurants after Flay’s spot closes.

Dining updates at Atlantic City casinos

Whatever new restaurant replaces Bobby Flay Steak will be among a list of new dining concepts coming to Atlantic City casinos this year.
Dougherty’s Steakhouse and Raw Bar is nearing completion at Resorts Casino Hotel. The plan is to have Dougherty’s open before Memorial Day weekend.

Bally’s Atlantic City has two new restaurants planned for 2021. Tony Longo’s Meatballs and Martinis will be taking over the former Arturo’s space. Ventnor-based Water Dog Smoke House will be opening a 200-plus seat restaurant at the site of Buca di Beppo.

Finally, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City has been teasing a new dining spot on social media. While details have been scarce, Harrah’s has one of the strongest existing dining portfolios of any Atlantic City casino and any addition will likely only compliment those restaurants.
