Betfair Online Casino Name Fades Into NJ Sunset As Stardust Rebranding Approaches

Fans of Las Vegas nostalgia know the Stardust Casino brand extremely well. Yes, we are referencing the former property at the north end of the Las Vegas Strip that no longer exists.

However, the name is still going strong.

The legendary gaming brand will soon be available to New Jersey customers as the Stardust online casino is targeted for an April launch, pending regulatory approval.

It will operate under the Golden Nugget license, and replace the Betfair NJ online casino.

Betfair is one of the original NJ online casino apps,  launching back in 2013.

FanDuel Group and Boyd Gaming officially announced the plans via press release Monday morning.

Boyd Gaming is the former owner of the Stardust Casino. And the site where it once stood is the future home of Resorts World Las Vegas (targeted for a 2021 opening).

So the time of this announcement is rather fitting as the Stardust name is gaining new life.

As Kevin Smith, president and CEO of Boyd Gaming, said “for nearly 50 years, the Stardust was one of the most famous casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.”

“We are excited to work with our partners at FanDuel to launch our first real-money online casinos and are confident this legendary brand will give us a significant advantage in connecting with players looking for a distinctive online gaming experience,”  said Smith.

Like the other FanDuel Group offerings, the platform will be available via web browser and available for download on iOS and Android devices.

Betfair casino or FanDuel Sportsbook customers will be able to use existing credentials. The FanDuel Casino New Jersey app is also live in the Garden State.

And this gives the Stardust app an advantage over some of the new brands targeted for a 2021 launch.

Even without the Stardust brand, gamblers have more than two dozen apps to choose from.

Expect ‘glitz and glamour of old Las Vegas’

Stardust is a name Americans are familiar with, at least those who visited Las Vegas decades ago.

Launching a rebranded product in the nation’s top online casino jurisdiction is a no-brainer. And operating under the FanDuel group umbrella means there is an established customer base.

When it comes to NJ sports betting, FanDuel is the one everybody is chasing. Yes, Betfair falls under the FanDuel umbrella, too, but the rebranding gives the product a fresh look.

Amy Howe, president of FanDuel Group. says the new Stardust Casino will retain all of the great games that customers love on Betfair Casino. The name change will incorporate “a new stylish look that captures the glitz, glamour, and nostalgia of old Las Vegas.”

“Stardust Casino allows us to take a market-leading product to the next level, creating a unified platform across New Jersey and Pennsylvania and integrating Boyd Gaming’s B Connected player loyalty program to provide even more value to our customers,” said Howe.

What will the Stardust online casino app look like?

The Stardust Casino will be built on FanDuel’s proprietary front-end, apps and player account management system.

While the press release did not mention a specific number of titles, here are some of the “robust offering” of casino games, including:

• slots
• blackjack
• roulette
• video poker
• baccarat
• live dealer

Players will also have the ability to “securely and quickly cash out winnings.”

Responsible gaming concerns are also being addressed with the Stardust app as there will be numerous account protections built into the app.

As far as when the Stardust Casino will be taking bets again, April is only weeks away.
