Summer may be closing out but NJ poker players headed to Atlantic City casinos can still find some hot action. AC plays host to the Garden State’s only three legal poker rooms.

AC casinos are still attracting summer visitors with big cash promos and daily tournaments.

Cash games run 24/7 in the city and are available at the following casinos:

  • Borgata (52 tables)
  • Harrahs (40 tables)
  • Tropicana (10 tables)

Here is a rundown of the latest Atlantic City poker news, events and rumors.

Is PokersStars returning to Resorts?

Recently it was discovered on the PokerStars NJ site that live tournament events coming back to the US. The events will be part of their road to the PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship (PSPC). The PSPC is taking place in January. Baha Mar in the Bahamas is hosting.

So for those wondering what to has to do with NJ poker players, the company is giving out platinum passes to winners. According to the site, they can be won in numerous ways including via US live events, US online tournaments and more.

A $30,000 Platinum Pass includes:

  • Buy-in to the $25,000 PSPC
  • Six nights hotel accommodation for winner and a guest in a 5-star hotel
  • Airport transfer
  • $1,900 expense money
  • Platinum Pass winner experiences during the event

Even though it hasn’t been officially announced, New Jersey players are hoping that the series will return to Resorts in Atlantic City.

Resorts currently has a partnership deal with the NJ online poker brand. However, the land-based casino doesn’t have a poker room. Resorts has previously held poker events in its convention area.

Back in 2016, Resort’s hosted the first-ever PokerStar’s Live Festival.

Borgata Atlantic City poker includes Survivor Series

For the time being, only Borgata AC has legal tournaments in the state of New Jersey. In August, the casino will host another week of its popular Survivor Series.

The week-long series runs from Aug. 22 through Aug. 26. Survivor series includes six different events ranging from $125 – $450.

How a Survivor event works:

  • Runs like a normal tournament in the beginning
  • Players play down to a certain number of remaining entries
  • All players are paid the same payout and the tournament ends

Borgata bounty tournaments are back as well in August. These events will occur on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.

$60k Borgata cash promo giveaway

Borgata has one of the largest cash rooms on the East Coast. And August will include  bonuses galore.

Until Sept. 3, weekday high hands include $200 every 30 minutes Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. until 12 a.m. One highlight bonus includes a $60,000 giveaway for cash players on Fri. Aug. 19 and Sat. Aug. 20. Every three hours the promotion continues and repeats as follows:

  • $1,000 first hour ($250 every 15 minutes)
  • $2,000 second hour ($500 every 15 minutes)
  • $3,000 third hour ($1,000 every 20 minutes)

Then there is the Saturday grand finale, which will take place between 11 p.m. and midnight. The giveaway breakdown will be as follows:

  • $1,000 during first 20 minutes
  • $2,000 during the next 20 minutes
  • $3,000 during the final 20 minutes

As an added bonus, the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot stands at $100,000 as of July 29. To qualify for a bad beat, players must have four of a kind, 10s or better. Also the player must use two cards in their hand.

Loser of the hand receives 40% of the jackpot. Winning hand gets 20% and 40% goes to the remaining players dealt into the hand.

Harrah’s offers rakeback for AC poker players

Harrah’s Resort has AC’s second biggest poker room. Unfortunately, the tables have been cleared from the old tournament section. According to staff, the tournaments won’t be back anytime soon.

The poker room does offer rakeback. This is when a player earns monthly cash for the amount of hours logged at the tables.

  • 50-79 hours: $50
  • 80-99 hours: $100
  • 100-149 hours: $150
  • 150-199 hours: $250
  • 200 plus hours: $300

According to staff, the bonuses will remain the same for August. The extras include:

  • $300 High Hand every hour with a rollover (12 p.m.-2 a.m.)
  • $250 on Wednesdays, but if the high hand is a royal flush the prize is double
  • Royal flush anytime using two cards in hand earns a $100 comp

The Bad Beat Jackpot ($50,000 as of July 28 2022) remains active as well.

Tropicana Atlantic City Boardwalk bonuses

The Tropicana AC poker room is the only one along the world famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. The casino poker room offers cash games daily. According to the Tropicana, all tournaments are cancelled until further notice. The poker room operates daily 11 a.m. until 6 a.m.

Some standout Tropicana Poker Club bonuses include:

  • $300 High Hand every hour with one rollover from noon-2 a.m. (Aces full of Kings min.)
  • $300 rake back monthly for 130 hours played
  • Royal Flush anytime using two cards in hand earns a $100 comp
  • Bad Beat Jackpot ($10,000 as of July 28 2022)
