TwinSpires recently announced it is no longer servicing the state of New Jersey with its online casino and sportsbook, starting on June 10, 2022.

This is important information for Garden State bettors who utilize the online platform because you only have until July 11, 2022, to withdraw any funds in your account.

The news follows reports from this past February, when Churchill Downs declared it was leaving the online gaming business.

For NJ, all casino games and sportsbook wagers will be disabled on Friday, June 10. Deposits are also cut off on that day.

With the deadline quickly approaching, check out all of the details you need to know about TwinSpires’ closure.

TwinSpires NJ shuts down

Anyone with a TwinSpires NJ account should log back in just to ensure they haven’t left any unattended funds. Bettors have just over a month to withdraw any money from their casino or sportsbook account.

It should be noted that TwinSpires rebranded from BetAmerica last year.

The online app gives you a couple of different ways to remove your winnings. You can view all of the possible options by selecting the Person Icon on the right side of the website (blue symbol), then choosing withdraw. From there, TwinSpires offers the following methods:

  • Online banking
  • PayPal
  • ACH
  • TwinSpires Prepaid Play+
  • Cash at Golden Nugget AC casino cage

There’s also the issue of any open bets that you might still have.

TwinSpires is leaving all open bets alone to settle as normal. If your bet is successful when the event concludes, the operator sends you a check. You’ll receive it within 30 days of when the wager settles.

Bettors can always choose to utilize the Cash Out tool for markets where it’s available. If you don’t want to leave a bet open and wait for a check to arrive, then this is an alternate route.

A third option is to void the bet. If this is a future wager that won’t finalize until after July 11, it can simply get canceled. NJ residents can call 877-774-7371 to get in touch with player services.

Golden Nugget now has NJ sportsbook and online casino openings

The move by TwinSpires provides two new open spots for Golden Nugget’s online licenses. It can now add another online casino and online sports betting app to its long list of existing partners.

However, if the new partner offers a shared sportsbook and online casino platform like TwinSpires that company will fill both vacancies.

Of course, its current top online casino is its own highly regarded Golden Nugget NJ.

While TwinSpires is stepping away from the online sportsbook and casino industry, it is still accepting some wagers. The company will keep taking bets for horse racing through its app (unfortunately not in NJ), as well as at some retail establishments.

It owns a total of four casinos with retail sportsbooks, with one in Pennsylvania (Presque Isle Downs Casino in Erie), Maryland, Mississippi, and Illinois.
